Sommeil (ou les séjours sous terre) Sleep (or periods underground) seeks to stimulate one’s imagination about what could lie beneath the passageways in the International Quarter. The work is composed of three back lit photographs showing cross-sections of basements.

Looking to the horizon one sees a panoramic view of the old Miron limestone quarry, which later became a garbage dump and is now an environmental complex. Both peaceful and desolate, this lunar landscape is strangely beautiful. It is mainly the invisible dimensions of this site that are made perceptible here, making us aware of aspects of our urban environment that we usually don’t perceive. Particularly noticeable are the transformative processes — both destructive and regenerative — at work on the materials.
